Even if you are not showing your dog why not come along to support the competitors. There's always refreshments available. It's a great opportunity to meet up with club members and see a multitude of Welsh Springers in one place. As we are located in Chepstow it's a great setting-off place to go and explore the beautiful Wye Valley - there's the famous Chepstow Castle and the wonderful Tintern Abbey is just 5 miles away. Why not arrange a dog walk with friends and family and drop in to see us at lunchtime or later on to see the awards of the day's champions.
There's always a warm welcome at our shows and it's the ideal place if you want to learn more about the breed - we look forward to seeing you there.

Miss Dawn Ritchie (Slapestones)
I have grown up with Welsh Springer’s for as long as I can remember. We got our first dog “Holly” when I was 4 years old from breeder Sandra Stevenson of the Steelriver affix of Welsh Springer’s and Flat Coated Retrievers.
After seeing the rosettes in her siting room my brother and I asked if we could show our puppy, after constantly pestering our parents, they finally agreed to have a go and see what it was all about.
After Holly and my mum won their first prize rosette we were hooked. I started competing in junior handling classes when I was 6, I soon got the showina bug myself and became a member of the Youth Kennel Club and Junior Handling Associaton.
I have been showing for nearly 20 years and started judging Welsh Springer’s in 2011. I have previously attended Eden Valley Dog Training obedience classes and attained bronze and silver good citizen awards. I am currently a committee member of Penrith and District Canine Society.
I am very much looking forward to judging at the February Open Show and thank the WSSCSW committee for the invitation.
